Am I dreaming, or did I recently read about a new super windscreen that some
manufacturer has developed?

There will always be a better mousetrap. TransAmerica
brought in the Pauly Superscreen from Germany, initially
around $260, now in the same ballpark as the JZ. I don't
know anything about the JZ, but I've seen and listened to
the Pauly, and it was quite impressive compared to some
other windscreens there to compare it to, including the
Steadman, which I rather like. And Brad Lunde doesn't
distribute any junk or snake oil.

I wish JZ would send you one to evaluate. It would be good to know that it's
worth $130.

Ask the film folks. They'll give you a straight answer.

We own a few of the standard pop filters, but the ones clients comment
on most are our homebrew bent coat hanger and nylons. Old school and
cool. I was just working on one last night.

I think that product is best called a pop filter. Windscreens are the
large zeppelin shaped units you see on boom mics outdoors for film &
video dialog. Examples are here: www.rycote.com.

I agree that it is a pop filter instead of a windscreen.
