Hi, audio professionals!

I'm here to tell you about my software.

Audio Speed Changer Pro lets you to speed up audio files without
changing the pitch. It is primarily intended for accelerating audio
books as well as podcasts, but can be surely used with any other sound
track or file. Batch processing feature and convenient user interface
make Audio Speed Changer Pro a valuable tool for book listeners and
authors who want to save time.

With the help of this program you can tune the different tempo, pitch
and even the playback rate for separate files in the list. You may use
it also for transcoding audio - configurable output to MP3, OGG,
PCM/WAV and AAC/MP4 file formats is supported. Converted audio will be
available for speed-listening on your PC, Smartphone, iPod and any
portable MP3 player.

Extra options include tag editing, downmixing to mono option, and the
ability to normalize volume. Audio Speed Changer Pro supports
drag-and-drop and can be integrated into the Windows Explorer shell for
quick access to its major functions.

The whole post is almost 8 years old! Some things may have changed since
then...

Hint: next time read more carefully which date and YEAR you respond to - you
even quoted it in the very first line

Better i tell my problem first.. i got some 600 mp4 songs sent by a friend and the problem is that speed is slow in them. I just want to batch extract mp3 audio from them BUT with speed increase... Doing it one by one us very tedious and time consuming. So plz guide.

Changing tempo is something Audacity can do. Maybe it has command
line options so you can call it from a simple batch file with the
desired procent speed up.

Update: apparently (I have not used it) Audacity has both scripting
(Python, Perl), and macros. Of the latter, the online manual says:
" Macros which follow a fixed set of steps, e.g. to convert many
files from one format to another."
See https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/scripting.html

no no dear.. that one (audio speed changer pro) worked perfect.. simple interface and batch processing too for videos to mp3 (one setting for all) however tagging function is limited to one by one mp3 but for that got another free tagger software.. in fact, found a keygen for Pro version too.. worked like a charm and got all 600 mp4 converted to mp3 with speed adjusted (without coffee) :-) thank you so much all of you for the help.. appreciate the kind words. stay blessed.

Sound Forge can do it as a batch file job.

But Mr OP, whose idea is it that the tempo is too fast ? Are they
*actually* too fast, or is there a problem with what you are playing
back on, or are you too hyped-up and everything seems slow ?

none of these :-) motor of his Cassette Player is slow and he cant adjust it.. even hes not using a cable for output.. he simply plays the cassette and makes video of the song and sends me on whatsapp. Songs are so rare that i have to accept in this form too.. not available on internet.

BUT now am thinking about a software which can 20% increase video speed of these 600 mp4 and re-write them back as mp4.. all in batch via a single click. Anyone has seen such a thing plz plz share name / link... cuz now i plan to upload these files to youtube so that everyone around the world can listen to them before they get extinct.

Found this free software but it asks to input speed value for all files individually :-(

Does ffmpeg not do what you want? It's command line driven (LOTS of
options), so easy to do in a batch file with a for loop.
If it is music, why do you need MP4?

Well.. being a novice am unfamiliar with command line processes thats why i want some software with simple interface.. For output you are right (Y) theres no need for it to be in mp4 ..any format which is acceptable to youtube shall suffice. Is there any particular software in your mind to ask this? I just want one fixed JPG which i should input along with 600 mp3 files ..and get them converted automatically to mp4 or wmv or mpg or avi. Plz guide if it is possible. I tried FREEMAKE Video software which does batch convert job but asks to input JPG for every mp3 :-(

I've not tried it yet, but Openshot is cross platform and is based on
the ffmpeg libraries. It may doo what you want, and is free to download
and install under the GNU licence.

Just checked .. it doesnt have batch processing feature Sir

Sooo, learn how to use command line - instead of posting here every 2
minutes. It´s not so complicated, as it may seem. In the days of DOS many
batch processings were done with command line and it was usually faster and
easier than with most GUI toys of today. Invest some hours or maybe even a
few days to learn and understand it.
There is no deadline to get those files processed, I assume. So, better take
some time to get things right instead of quick-and-ABSOLUTELY-DIRTY - if it
is such valuable music, treat it with due respect.

Anyway, if it is just AUDIO (music, speech, sounds, noise, whatever) - why
the hell MUST it be uploaded to Youtube, which is a VIDEO platform???
Just because all stupid people around the world have become to stupid to
listen to AUDIO on dedicated AUDIO platforms?
Sorry, call me old-fashioned, but IMHO this is just another way to support
that utter stupidity even more.

In which case I suggest restarting from scratch, with a cassette player
that works properly. Or is this no longer possible ? If the files are
that much 'worth it' , it may be worth considering.

Best with a linear PCM WAV file of the recordings to start with, even
from a cassette. The way you have done it means the audio has been
mangled at least 3 times by lossy-encoding and processing.

i got your point in exact context.. problem here in a backward country like mine is that majority of music lovers either turn to youtube or facebook or dailymotion ..and unfortunately all three dont allow uploading mp3 else i wud have posted these files in past 24 hours.. Now if i post to some purely audio upload platform then simply there wont be any viewing at all in India & Pakistan..and being local music listeners from other countries wont be able to enjoy it at all..

very right to restart from scratch.. but the thing is i dont own those cassettes either..and as told earlier these were sent to me as cellphone made video files sent to me on whatsapp over a period of many months ..from other country. So now i have converted all those mp4 to mp3 with speed correction.. At present i want a single JPG pic attached to all those 600 mp3 files via some software via batch process.. and am unable to find any such software ...for which am seeking help right now.

I remember finding a small hole at the bottom cassette player motors
that allowed access with a jeweler's screwdriver to an adjustable
pot that would change the speed.

Yes.. that wud not have been a problem if i had that cassette player but as posted earlier someone sent me those recordings from other country.. Now i have adjusted speed problems.. by converting them to mp3 and via speed change software ..told by you people here (thanx again n again) Now i want to upload all those mp3 files to youtube in the form of video where there will be just one pic on-screen and the audio from that mp3 shall be playing in its background. For that i need a software which can convert all those mp3 to mp4 as batch while only one still pic should be displayed.. You can call it a slide show of one pic :-) which software plz?

you need video editing software to create a video even if it is a still pic..

windows movie maker is the usual.

Not sure about a batch mode though.

Thanx.. i checked WMM .. unfortunately it has no batch mode :-(
FREEMAKE VIDEO does have a batch mode but it asks to provide pic for every mp3 separately.. means for 600 files you have to input 600 pics.. while i just want to use only 1 still pic for all 600 files. Hope i conveyed.

Geoff is very close to the truth... if you have a whole lot of files from
the same place with the same problem, the solution isn't to convert them
but FIRST to figure out how they got that way. Are they by any chance
48ksamp/sec files that you're playing back at 44.1 for some reason? Look
at the embedded sample rates and see if something like that is going on.
If that's the case, patch the files so the sample rate is correct or find
out from the guy that gave them to you how they got that way.

What about this:
Use a batch file to generate 600 copies of the same picture under

allow Freemake to work in batch mode?

Thanx.. freemake does allow same/different pic but the thing is for every mp3 you have to goto edit mode then give path of pic and then select pic .. means around 1800 clicks you have to go through for 600 mp3 files..very tuf as i got thousands of more mp3 coming up too next month.

ffmpeg should be able to do what you want. If you search for
"ffmpeg video from mp3 and jpeg" you get multiple
good
hits,
like:

https://lists.ffmpeg.org/pipermail/ffmpeg-user/2012-June/007120.html

https://superuser.com/questions/1041816/combine-one-image-one-audio-fi

le-to-make-one-video-using-ffmpeg

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/25381086/convert-mp3-video-with-st

atic-image-ffmpeg-libav-bash

This last one has a simple example (from the ffmpeg wiki apparently):
ffmpeg -loop 1 -i image.jpg -i audio.mp3 -c:a copy -c:v libx264
-shortest out.mp4

Wouldn't it be worth it then, to send your friend
another cassette player that doesn't have the speed

Yes.. but that phase has passed now because now i have successfully converted his mp4 videos to mp3 audios and the speed is adjusted by the software suggested here by you friends for which i am thankful really.. now i just want to upload those mp3 to youtube by attaching a pic to them to make them mp4. For this i need a batch processing software in which i could put one still pic for once and it should be attached to all mp3 by a single click and all mp3 could become mp4

Thanx for the hard work. I went to all the links and checked carefully. They all do work for attaching a single still pic to one mp3 to make it mp4 .... but i couldnt find any one solution for more than one mp3 (600 mp3 in my case) to get 600 mp4 files all with just one same still pic.

you could try asking at a video editing oriented newsgroup.

Yes.. i understand that my initial query which was about mp3 speed change, has been addressed perfectly here by helping persons like you (Y) Now its moved to next stage where i want bulk mp3 conversion to mp4 so this may not be a platform for that. so i beg leave with many many thanx to all those who took interest in resolving it ..and the silent community who just read it... Thank you so much friends for helping on an 8 year old thread (Y) luv u all.

78rpm vinyl records from 1940s transferred to cassette tapes in 1970s and now in 2018 he played the cassette and recorded with a cellphone placed next to cassette players' speaker .. recorded as mp4 videos which he sent me over whatsapp one by one in last 3 months.. total 600 mp4 files.

I suppose it gets the gist across, but it would have been nice to archive
the 78s to a better medium.

"2018 he played the cassette and recorded with a cellphone placed next to cassette players' speaker .."

???!!

At the very least, that cassette could be played on a decent
cassette deck, convert the output from its RCA to the mini
line in on a PC soundcard, then record the cassette audio
into a DAW for editing.

Recording off a speaker is akin to video recording off the
TV screen - from a 30-45° angle no less! - and posting the
results on YouTube. Embarrassing.

It is what it is. Given the OP's lack of a time machine, he can't quite go
back to the 70s and squirrel away the 78s so that he can do a good digital
transfer now, nor can he go to whatever foreign country his friend was in
when he re-recorded the cassettes to video on a phone and buy him proper
equipment. At some point, somebody somewhere is going to hear this lousy
YouTube video and say to himself "Ah, I remember that. I loved that song.",
and the world will be a better place. It won't be the best place, but it
will be better.

Reading all the posts and surmising about the back story, there's a good
possibility that the person with the recordings either does not have
access to or is not willing to invest in the cost of a computer for this
one job, or attempt to climb the learning curve of operating one, due to
their age. We also don't know how the discs were transcribed 40 years
ago, ( I'd not put any money on the recorder and turntable being
electrically connected) but the content is worth preserving, even if the
quality is dire.

So they are using what they have to do the job that they want to do.

In an ideal world, the original 78s would be available and a decent
transcription setup could be bought or rented. In the past, I've had to
accept sub-optimal conditions and results for stuff such as a demo tape
of a pub singer, where there was a stipulation that no visible or close
up microphones could be used.

I still vividly remember recording a solo lute concert in an old church,
where the performer insisted on the mics being hidden in the flowers at
the edges of the stage.
I wasn't happy, but it was going reasonably well until the massive
thunderstorm with torrential rain came along.......

But, in general, it's the performance and material that's key, and you
have to work with what you have.

Yes exactly thats i would have done on a professional level. But now i have to play with whats provided to me.. mp4 made of a shaky cellphone camera ... however with the courtesy of friend here i have managed to get them as mp3 with correct speed. Next am focusing on FFMPEG to batch convert them to mp4 with just one still pic.. getting close to it now :-) Thanx

This software helped me so much.. Can i get email of this programmer? His websites have been shut down now and i just want a very small change in this software.. It has the option of mp3 Tagging in it but that doesnt work for all the mp3 in the batch list. It works only when i select one mp3 file at a time.. When selecting more than one files it asks to select only one mp3 file. I want the programmer to just add a check box of Select All for Tagging. or to provide a check box with each mp3 file. OR if someone else can do it other than the programmer if it has a source code.

thanx .. and NO to what u asked that if it is about mp3 tagging alone.. in fact i wanted to have "all in one" feature in this software.. so that not only one can change speed of so many mp3 but also tag them all too ..within the same program. But it seems like we have to use another program for Tagging all mp3 as batch.. am currently using "mp3Tag" a free software but i'll be definitely checking the links you provided.. many many thanx .. Am not a member of this google group yet but any member here have access to the email ID of that programmer Valerian Kadyshev i'll be highly obliged.

Err, this isn't a "Google group", it's a usenet forum, and you join in
by posting.

If you have problems with the Google news interface, you need an account
on a news server (Often free), and a program such as PAN to read what's
posted here.

Foobar2000 probably can do it all, the tempo/speed change
component can be downloaded/added.

Google has hijacked Usenet and presents Usenet groups as if they were
something that Google ran and operated. But this is not run or operated
by Google and it predates the existence of Google by several decades.
You can see it through Google but you can also see it through a conventional
Usenet client.

Hey. I actually dislike that statement as much as anybody else, mostly
because it's a tautology, and doesn't add much to any argument. I suggest
you concentrate on my second statement, which I can restate as "Don't bring
me any solution that involves the use of a time machine."

ohh.. thats evil of google.. these chinese want to take over everything of universe.. am familiar with the name usenet since windows 3.1 days perhaps when AOL gave access to its users to usenet.. though i didnt use it. It was social network of those days i think :-) made for academia purpose perhaps... Now like every other social medium this one has pros n cons too i think. Unaware of traditional way to join it but now that am seeing it as google group, i noted that unlike other google or yahoo groups, this page has no option to JOIN the group.. also when a reply comes here and i get notified via email then i dont get any URL to reply back here.. another circumstantial evidence that google is just using it in a bogus way.. then i have to come here via history link of browser which is https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.audio.pro/PAzNrIhj1xE
so sad to reach helping people like you in a long n tedious n fake way :-(

To me the phrase means, "I've explored all avenues for a better
outcome, and concluded that my present course of action is the
correct one, albeit unsatisfactory".

December 21st 18, 08:18 PM
Tobiah: "It is what it is" can be prevented with

In other words, a time machine...

If the OP was asking for advice on how to prevent a future recurrence of
his situation, perhaps "It is what is is" isn't helpful, however when he
says "This is my situation right now. What can I do going forwards (another
phrase I dislike), going on about what he should have done in the past
doesn't help.

Well that will be because somehow, in the wonder that is Google Groups,
you have marked the thread for notifications. You'll need to go into
that rabbit-warren to figure out how to switch the notifications off.

Download a client like Thunderbird (ignore the email side of it, unless
you prefer it to what you use now) and find a free USENET server. Google
can be in some ways (but not USENET) your friend.

No. Google has merely an interface to USENET, which is free, public, and
not tied to a single interface or reader.

There is always another course of action, ie not to bother wasting time

Like going back to the 1970s and copying the vinyl properly to decent
tapes, then transferring the tapes to digital media using state of the
art equipment (Not those horrid 1980s ADC units which, if you were
lucky, got 14 bits of precision.)?

That brings us back to a very old argument about what matters more,
content or quality?

These may well be the last surviving copies of some very important
recordings. At the worst, these videos may keep these songs alive for a
new audience, one or more of whom may end up re-recording one or more of
them for posterity (And cash, of course.) Or they may be used as
material related to an academic study, as recordings of folk songs made
using a cheap cassette recorder out in the wilds often were.

I'm in the UK, the site is in Russian, using the Cyrillic alphabet, and
the page I get translates as saying, in effect "This is a placeholder,
as the site is not available due to the owner not paying their rent",
with contact details for the service provider in a number of locations

If you can get in to the actual site, could you grab the home page for
us? Thanks in advance. I may end up having a use for such a program at
some point.

focusing on FFMPEG to batch convert them to mp4 with just one still pic..
getting close to it now :-) Thanx

Just a totally crazy idea:
if whatever person records with a smartphone - why not simply use a
different app for audio recording instead of making bigger files, that take
longer to send?

Tell that person to try "Audio Recorder" for Android - it´s free and open
source and pretty simple to use. Whoever can use a video recording app, will
be able to use "Audio Recorder" just as well!

At least, it would save you one step of work, since you would not need to
extract audio from mp4 files - with over 600 files, that´s a good amount of
time

You are very right but he had to show me the index of songs which he had manually written on cassette covers so he had to film it in video. Song wording, singer, lyricist & composer names. Now dont say plz that he coud have taken pics of cassettes and sent separately :-) Hes an old man and fled from school education when he was just 10 years old.. being film n music fan he used to wander film studios across various cities of india ..spending all of his daily earning on buying records.. not in touch with modern tech at all. took one week to learn whatsapp :-) so it was really his kindness to send those rare items .. had i asked him to adapt some other techniques or software or apps he might not have even sent these :-) These collectors are very sensitive and have to be handled very carefully.. As regards problem for me to convert these mp3 now i took a logical advice given here by someone to seek solution in a video forum and am happy to share with you the i found a VIDEOHELP forum where some kind persons like you really helped me learn a few commands of FFmpeg and provided various short scripts to resolve this issue within 72 hours..and hopefully i'll be starting uploading on youtube in January 2019 :-) Thanx again for caring. Happy Xmas to all celebrating (Y) Stay blessed.

14 bits of precision is about 8 bits more than what he has taping 78's
to cassette, cassette via speaker and iphone to mp3, mp3 speed adjusted
and transferred to mp4!
And I'm always amazed at people complaining how bad digital once was,
while ignoring how much worse vinyl still is. :-)
And the less said about cassette the better!

Yep, and like them I'm happy to do it when somebody is paying me for it!
I'd first look for the original disks though.

Of course. My cassette suggestion was merely
a plan-C.

You have subscribed to the google group and requested email notification of
posts. I don't really know how this works, but apparently it is a thing you
can turn on and off within the google groups interface.

Occasionally we get posts here from people who have turned it on and can't
figure out how to turn it off, so if you do figure it out, please post here
and let us know.

Most folks here are not reading the group through google and don't really
know how the google interface works.

This reminds me of an old SNL skit where Akroyd is the US President and
is fielding phone calls: "Timmy, you're a creature on this planet and you've
done a heavy drug".

Is the latest version of the home page that I can find.

All the links in the post you are replying to lead to a holding page
saying (In Russian) that the website is not available as the hosting
agreement has expired. The phone numbers are for the hosting company.

Older versions of the site are available on the Wayback machine. The
download link for the 2017 version, which I have checked to be a valid
link, is here:-

https://web.archive.org/web/20160819011755/http://www.superutils.com/dloads/audio-speed-changer-pro-setup.exe

The Wayback machine is well worth supporting, and a couple of dollars
goes a short way towards paying their bandwidth and hard drive bills.
