Its good that somebody remembers Fred.
His site content is copywrited for 1999, and probably some linked
material may not work anymore. 11 years in PC land is like 400 years
after Gutenburg invented the printing press and people's languages
changed a bit.

Everyone remembers Fred. He had a genuine fascination for
what he did, and could enthuse, encourage and guide people
in their own directions, which is a rare virtue.

Rather embarrassingly, having read "The Lord of the Rings"
with kids several times, I think of him as Tom Bombadil.
Unassuming and always good natured, it becomes apparent some
time later that all of creation depends on his good will.

We've never been the same since he went.
