VST, VNC and LineIn

I'm using a setup where Virtual Audio Cable is seen as the default sound
device for XP. This is fed into VSThost and processed before going to
the actual soundcard h/w (Auzentech).

Problem is, I want to get the soundcard LineIn into VST - and it seems
far from simple. Either because it's difficult or I'm ignorant!

The app bundled with VAC, audiorepeater, doesn't work at all well.
Any other methods?
