Halloween sound effects play back system

Hi,

I'm looking to replace my Halloween
4 track door bell sound effects machine
and wondering what inexpensive options
exist.
I'm currently using a 10+ year old Sony
[MDM-X4 Mk II] 4 track mini disc machine.
I only use it once a year and fear one of
these years it will crap out on me.

The machine is real easy to set up,
just set it to one shot and plug the
door bell switch in to the trigger.
[Hit the button, it plays once, then
resets.]

I'm looking for a similarly easy to
set up, $100 (or less) solution, with
a preference for a stand alone.

No rush, I've got at least a year
before I'd need it, more depending
on how long the Sony hangs in there.

You can get a Sansa Clip for about $30 that can be coaxed into serving the
same purpose.

How do you get 4 track recordings
in and out of it?

Looks like only a 2 track solution.
I'm looking to replace a 4 track surround
sound setup.

Also, computers don't tend to have a
(quarter inch, phone) trigger jack
for the door bell button.

How closely do you need to sync the tracks? Two cheap mp3 players should
trigger within milliseconds of each other from the same signal, maybe
generated by a DPST relay, and will hold sync pretty well for a short
clip, though maybe not sample accurate. It'll be cheap enough to try,
anyway.

Not quite as elegant as I'd like,
but it might work.

I'd really love to find a single box
solution without added relays and
kluged connections from the door
bell button to the trigger.

Anyway, there's lots of time to
think about it...
