Read your email address. That is probably the most honest answer
you'll receive.
NO, but seriously, there are plenty out there. Pick up your favorite
"record-producer-style" magazine and flip to the back.
I'm not sure which state colleges offer these types of degrees, but
you could probably get some info online about universities in your
home state.
Maybe find a studio near you that would put up with you and let you
learn how to twist some knobs.

Indiana has a sweet program I heard from my friend in the symphony.
Say they have awesome gear. He's recorded there a few times from one
of the students that has full access or whatever. They did a good job
IMO.

You'll probably get the best education from a 4-year college. Study music
and everything related to it... The engineering comes easy after that. Here
in Los Angeles, I'd suggest USC. The music industry program is expensive,
but there are some fantastic opportunities there. There are great
connections and great musicians to work with.
I'd stay away from places like the LA Recording Workshop or Full Sail. They
are expensive and you're not going to learn much in a 6 month program (that
doesn't have LOTS of musicians to work with).
That said, buy some gear, record people and apprentice for whoever you can.
You'll save money and you end up learning more by doing it.

We have not one but two schools in Minneapolis. Music Tech and IPR.
Institute of Production and Recording. They are churning out so called
engineers and producers like donuts. I still have a hard time finding a
good assistant though. Todd F.

Yeah - the best thing about them is that at least SOME of them graduate
knowing that they don't know anything. That's far better than thinking that
they know everything...

Seems like these schools need to hir EggHd to speak just before
graduation, to get across the point about the value of knowing you don't
know enough, if you know anything at all.
Of course, he might rather remain in the music biz.

The program at USC is awesome. It's a bitch to get into and a bigger
bitch to graduate from but it's also the only program in the US I'm
aware of that actually has employers chomping at the bit to hire its
graduates.

Fletcher, I wish our paths had crossed before I left Boston. Better
