DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN OR HIS COMPANY. HE IS AN

I'm sorry, but this is the wrong forum for your notice. This is a
newsgroup. NEWS GROUP. News. New. That means it's for things we
didn't already know. I think your announcement is already in the FAQ.

is this the same guy as db analog converters?

if so, i'd find it strange that one of the top converter companies has
such a bad business rep.

No, it's a different guy. Do a Google groups search for David Butler and you
may find some of the story...

Not the same company. Also, dB technologies, the converter company, is
now renamed Lavry electronics.

Please just do a Google on David Butler and go from there. Don't jump to
speculation based on an email handle. And noe, he has nothing to do with
the convertor company.

db Technologies [the converter company] has become Lavry Engineering, not
Lavry Electronics... please make a note of it.

DB is what he is. No question he knows a lot about recording, and by
extension he probably knows a lot about the gear. Sometimes I find his
posts about certain pieces amusing, since they contradict the generally
accepted wisdom... or my own experience. Similarly, there is no doubt
that he still has a ways to go in the area of doing business on-line.

The thing that interests me is when he ticks someone off, he does it in
a big way. I had my negative experienc with him several years ago now,
and you know, the bad taste lasted a LONG time. He's probably still the
last guy I'd do business with, but he isn't the only one on that end of
the list<G>!

BUT, there are people who have ahd great experiences doing business with
him, and I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it loyalty, but they
have no complaints.

Sometimes it almost seems like there are 2 of him<G>!

One thing to consider... people do change, and so do businesses. I had a
really bad experience with Swee****er many years ago. Stopped doing
business with them, and even went so far as to blast them from time to
time. Well, this past spring I was in one of my blasting moods, and out
of the blue I get an email from Chuck himself. One of his guys had
forwarded my post, he had looked up the incident, and he had decided
that perhaps they really did make a mistake. He made good on it all
these years later.

I still choose to deal with my local shop, that's just a personality
quirk I suppose, but if Swee****er had something the local guys didn't
carry I'd do business with them again. And as the internet companies
continue to put pressure on local shops I suspect that will become more
common... so it's nice to know that there are couple of them out there
that I can trust.

I usually give the guy the benefit of the doubt but he must have
pulled more than one fast one in recent times....there is a lot of
chatter over on the recordingconsoles.net site about his business
"practices" as well.

Freely? Are you sure? Usually David turns the meter on after about 5 minutes.

What was we did that left you with a bad taste?

I honestly don't remember you or the problem.

If there is a way to clean that up, I am happy to do it.

Just to get out in front of one (for a change):

Yep, I am embarassed to admit that I have had a problem resolving a deal with Mr.
Musto to both our satisfaction. I am continuing to try to work this out with him.

Even worse, he is actually an old acquaintance.

Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Not how I try to do biz, just a deal gone bad in an unfortunate way. And to be
COMPLETELY clear, Tom had nothing to do with the problem: all on my end. We had a
VERY large check TO us bounce at the same time as this deal. This has left me
scrambling to cover a few things until I catch up with the offender.

Tommy WILL get paid off, if at all possible soon. We have been speaking once a week
or more.

Sorry, dude, I know this sucks. My bad from A-Z.

Well for starters, the whole mess being aired out in public while the thing

He never turned on the meter with me. I never transacted with him. I may not
have agreed with his ideas, but they were free. He's a gear saleman, and
that's one of the ways that gear salemen sell gear. If he makes a sale, the
free talk paid off for him. If not, it's free talk.

Your comment is still completely untrue, as already documented by several posters
WAY more credible than you. I have never turned the meter on after 5 minutes with
YOU or anyone, so you are simply making this up.

uhh.. Ok here's a scenario. I'm walking down the street and bump into

Am I blaming the child?

I'm surprised this thread is still growing. I'm not here to defend DB. I
don't know anything about any of these specific instances and frankly
haven't read the whole thread, but any time his name is mentioned it
seems to create a swarm. It's a little more zealous than necessary to
make the point. Anybody reading the thread who hasn't figured out that
there are some unhappy people out there must be blind. It seems like
time for the newsgroup to move on and the individual personal matters
taken to email (or lawyers if you feel it's to that point). Next time it
comes up, by all means call it like you see it, but I'm not sure how
we'll benefit from another 35 posts on the subject.
