First get an FMR RNP (Really Nice Preamp) and understand how good your
SM57's can sound. Thereafter you can pick more costly mics with some
idea of what you need. Until you have a better microphone to preamp
match you won't have a clear idea of what you can do with what you
already have most of, i.e., everything except a preamp input that
appreciates dynamic mics.

Ben, I don't know how to break this to you... but I believe you have indeed
found a microphone that can and does give you complete use of the equipment you
have. I would highly suggest that you spend more time with that 57 and learn
more about positioning techniques [and getting your source tones to be as close
to what you're trying to achieve as possible] than spending time looking for
additional hardware.

A recording studio is an instrument... learn to play the 'beginners' version of
that instrument before you begin to pop the big bucks for better instruments. A
****ty guitar player with an amazing guitar will sound far worse than a genius
guitar player with a ****ty guitar... keep that in mind as you learn to play
'recording studio'.

Peace.
