I was not aware that Digidesign had released an OSX compatible version
of ProTools Free yet. Could that be the problem? What system
requirements are stated for the PT Free you have?

Spark had version ME for free when OSX was new.
There must be others.

TC offers a freeware version of the Spark editor, Spark ME. You download
it and then get an authorization (free) and away you go. I've used it a
little on the TiBook under OSX and it works. Haven't used it deeply
enough to know if it has any issues.
Folks on the MIO list are talking about some affordable multitrack app
from Italy, Quattro or something, but I have no experience of it.
I figure that Digi will deliver a PT Free for OSX, because it's their
introductory app that lets folks get a basic feel for PT, and often
folks eventually upgrade to a more capable version.

Hearing that Johnny Cash died at 71 last night was sort of weird because
Stephen Ford, my father, 86 also died last night.
We know a lot about Johnny Cash. Musically he one of my idols.
My father was a mechanical engineer by trade, contributing many patented
contraptions for the US Navy. He taught me how to sail big boats and little
boats, wield a hammer and a thousand other things, not the least of which
was how to communicate with my mother and sister. He was a beautiful soul
while on this earth and will be just as beautiful on the other side.
We will miss him, but we know that he's just over there with his mother and
brother who have been waiting patiently for him for some time.
If we were all as peaceful and kind as Stephen, the world would be a better
place.
RIP John and Stephen

Ty Ford

Hey Ty,
Sounds like you had a great Dad, and that shapes a person's life.
My father died when he was just 56 years old. I still remember him
constantly, even though it was more than 20 years ago. His actions in life
continue to teach me about living, even today.

Condolences Ty. I lost my Dad when he was 56 like Steve and missed a
lot of opportunity to get his wisdom.
You Dad was around for you a lot it seems and that in itself is worth
a great deal.

Ty, my condolences as well. I am fortunate to still have my dad around,
at 75. Sadly I lost my mother at 59 to cancer.

Ty,
What to say? My father was also a mechanical engineer who built
stuff for the Navy.
Whenever anything good happens to me, I still wish I could tell him.
Probably always will.
