hello
i was going to buy an Akai DR4D until i found out about Fostex D80/90 having
8 tracks for the same price.
i have an offer for a DR4-VR with the midi card and the internal 540mb HD
for 400 euros. (i dropped the price from 450 to 400. i still think it's
expensive but that's the price in france).
now i see i can have a 8 track DTD Fostex D80 or D90 for the SAME price. it
has :
- 8 RCA in / 8 RCA out (i would have prefered balanced jack)
- D80: 850 Meg hard drive standard. (approx. 18 min. record time.)
- D90: 2.5 Gig hard drive standard. (approx. 60 min. record time.)
- D80: 18 bit, 64Xoversampling, Dig-to-analog converters.
- D90: 20 bit, 128xoversampling,
- D80: 44.1 kHz sampling rate only.
- D90: 44.1 and 48 kHz sampling rates selectable.
are the fostex's AD good ? as good as the DR4-VR one ?
i guess the fostex don't have virtual tracks ?
what is good/bad with those machines ? (if i'd get one i'd probably get the
D90)
(i don't consider buying a DR8 because it's more expensive)
thanks again
