Audio conversion in New England?

Anyone know of a good place for converting 2" 24-track reel tapes to
digital in New England? I assume this is a fairly expensive procedure
but what should I expect to pay?

What sort of digital to do you want to convert it to?

Basically, any studio that has a 24-track machine can probably do it
these days, at house rates. Needless to say, some studios have machines
that sound better than others and have been more recently maintained,
some studios have better A/D systems than others. You could be looking
as low as $30/hr or as high as $250/hr.

Assuming the tapes are playable, I'd charge you the time it takes to align the
machine to your tapes and the time it takes to do the actual transfer. If you
don't supply a firewire onto which I can dump the tracks, I'd also charge for
the time it would take to put it on a DVD. I get $90 an hour for that kind of
thing. The alignment shouldn't take but a few minutes and my DVD burner
writes a 4.7 gig disk in about 25 minutes.

I'm in Vermont. My analog machine is a 1987 JH24 in excellent condition and my
digital system is a Pro Tools HD3. I have 8 channels of 192 kHz i/o and
another 16 at 96kHz. Do the math and give me a call if it seems worth it to
you.
