View Full Version : HD-P2 files not being read by a Mac

I recorded a show a couple of nights ago, and when I went to Firewire
in to into ProTools while docked, I couldn't see the files when
looking at the HD-P2 as an external drive, or by loading the CF card
into a USB multicard reader. The files were visible on the display of
the HD-P2, and would play back fine. I have done this dozens of times,
and never had a problem. When I looked at the card on a PC via USB,
everything was visible. I downloaded it to the PC desktop, put it on a
thumb drive, and loaded it into the Mac with no problems. I called
Tascam tech support, but the person on the other end of the phone
seemed pretty confused, had never heard of this problem, was going to
research it, talk to one of their engineers, and get back to me. No
response. The file was uncorrupted, and once I loaded it into
ProTools, everything was happy, and I burned it to CDs. I suspected
problems with the FAT32 and the Mac, but I did test recordings today
with the same settings, and all files were visible on the Mac. The CF
card is a Sandisk Extreme, and checks out fine. Anyone have similar
problems, or have any insight?

So it used to work, and works now, but didn't work once in the middle.

Were you working with very large (>2G) files, or was the HD-P2 set to
split large files into 2G segments?

If you can move the files off the card, and format the card, then move
the files back, and they work, I'd consider replacing the card.
