I assume you're using MTC and not SMPTE. There is usually always gonna be a
pause while any ProTools rig or other TC reader interprets the TC and locks
to its sync reference.
There are a couple of ways around this. The simplest is just to nudge all
of the tracks on the 2480 FORWARD about 10 seconds. That will give both
machines time to lock up and be in sync when the audio hits. I assume the
2480 has a way to let you do this.
The other way is to change the TC start time on the 2480 to be later, and
then use protools as the master with it's session start time set to be about
10 seconds before the 2480. This will ensure that ProTools is running to
speed when the audio happens, but the 2480 will likely have some delay while
it locks unless it will interpret the incoming TC and chase it's own TC
before the audio starts.
The first solution would work better. Just make sure you give the machines
ample time to lock. 10 seconds should be enough. But the MTC is flaky to
begin with...
