Power Mac G4/1 GHz single processor. AS NEW. This machine has NOT been used. I
mistakenly purchased it thinking that I could run OS 9.2 but it will ONLY boot
under OSX so I can't keep it. It will run older programs in Classic mode under
OSX (sorta like OS 9 within OSX).
It has the following:
1GHz G4 processor w/256KB on-chip, L2 cache plus 1MB DDR SDRAM L3 cache
60GB 7200rpm hard drive (ATA100)
256MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM (expandable to 2GB)
Four 64-bit, 33MHz PCI slots, built-in 56K V.92 modem, 10/100/1000BaseT
Ethernet connectivity, an AirPort Extreme slot for optional wireless
networking, two open USB ports, one FireWire 800 port and two FireWire 400
ports.
Three open hard drive bays.
Combo drive (CD-RW and DVD-ROM; writes CD-Rs up to 32X, rewrites CD-RWs up to
10X, reads CD-ROMs at 32X and reads DVD-ROMs at 12X)
nVidia GeForce4 MX card with 64MB DDR SDRAM, support for simultaneous ADC and
DVI displays and a VGA adapter.
Apple Pro Keyboard and Apple Pro Mouse are included.
$1250 plus shipping or NYC pickup, firm.

How goofy that Mac put out some machines that wouldn't boot 9 (must be the FW
800 thing?) and then turns around and releases the 1.25 that boots 9.

A friend of mine got a code for his Tibook that "unlocked" OS9
compatibility.

Where did he get the code? I am in exactly the same position as Northamusi -
must've been another one of those
Mac hiccups - it would be of great assistance to me to be able to boot 9.2 on this
thing - as far as I'm concerned at this point its a boat anchor - these things are
going for $1299 US new in the New York Times right now.

I highly recommend DAW_Mac. You would have heard that Classic works for
anything that doesn't need direct real time access to hardware.

$1,299.00
1.25GHz PowerPC G4
1MB L3 cache
256MB DDR333 SDRAM
80GB Ultra ATA drive
Combo Drive
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro
Mac OS 9 boot supported

This is from the Apple online store. Buy it from one of the mail order
houses and get more ram and a printer for the same price, and no sales
tax. If you are a student or a teacher you can get a better price from
Apple.

I wonder if Apple will keep shipping these G4's once the G5's are
ramped to full production. Hope so. Hope they lower the price or at
least start to include the superdrive. Backing up big Protools files to
DVD is pretty damn nice.
