Ever been in the mall where there some idiot behind a folding
table doing a demo of some food or pots and pans and wearing a
headset mic and yelling his pitch through a set of Boze
computer speakers turned up to eleven? What is it with these
guys? Can't they just accept the fact that everyone is
ignoring them?

And that jerk Billy has woken me up countless times when I
fell asleep on the couch late at night. I hope they wake him
up in hell with a sham wow commercial every time he nods out
once for every schmo he woke up screaming his stupid ad.

Well, it doesn't matter how loud, how obnoxious, or how annoying he was.
What his employers wanted was results. And results he delivered! Like
him or hate him, he is one of the most successful pitchmen in recent
history.

We should at least spell his name correctly: Billy Mays

There has been some interesting discussion of Mr. Mays over on the
rec.arts.movies.production.sound newsgroup by some of the sound
guys who worked on his commercials. One claimed that his voice
was "self-distorting", even without any microphone or electronics in
the loop. And, of course they typically ran at the lowest gain and even
moved the mike farther away than usual to avoid clipping and other
forms of electronic distortion.

Yes He was loud!! I had always hoped he could have done a hearing aid
info commercial. Have him talk real low ,but have a good mic on him
and eq and compression. " Hi I,m Billy Mays and I used to yell until I
got mighty ear now I don,t shout" . Oh well too late now!

At least spell his name correctly if you are doing to damn the dead.
It is Billy MAYS.

Apparently it didn't wake you up enough to relize that it was NOT
Billy Mays, it was Vince Shlomi, an ex-Scientologist (which makes
him smarter than John Travolta and Tom Cruise. And probably
smarter than people who don't turn off their TV when they go to
sleep, too.)
