View Full Version : Pre/deemphasis in software?

Hi,

I am looking for a pre/deemphasis in software, to run on a w2k machine
with Azalia / HD-Audio interface. A two-way radio with flat audio has
to be adapted to have a frequency response of +6dB/octave in one
direction, -6dB/octave in the other direction.

Is there some piece of software available that does the job? The
simpler the better :-)

Thank you in advance for any input!

If you are using the audio inputs and outputs of a sound card to connect a
two way radio, there is nothing simpler than inserting an RC network into
the audio lines. The preemphasis and deemphasis is usually built into the
radio anyhow. Details?

Hardware is not an option; in some cases the sites are not accessible
all the time, and fiddling with the hardware may be difficult. The
other problem are the levels and impedances - it would be a special
solution für every pair of soundcard and radio. And many radios have
no pre/deemphasis, others have...

Google comes up with over 300,000 hits for a realtime equalizer.

Makes setting it up more difficult, and it has to be tested if the dB
values are correct, but this is my plan b... :-)
