View Full Version : The best audio magazine

January 17th 09, 02:40 PM
Although it has substantially withered, I'm quite certain that the
best audio magazine ever published that still exists in any form (now
that 'Audio" is long gone: its salad days were when it was "Audio
Engineering" is the former "The Audio Amateur", now AudioXPress.

I came across some 1988/1989 issues recently and despite the black
and white AB Dick offset press printing (or maybe because of it) the
level of discourse and content was substantialy superior to what is
out now. The goofy "ultra-fi" movement destroyed DIY audio, it's clear
to see from a vantage point nearly twenty years on. While TAA was not
the vanguard of that Boasiam load of ****, it was certainly impacted.

Of course, Arny was a contributor to that publication. While the rest
of the douchebags who are mostly all who reads this group any more
spend most of their waking hours dealing with Arny will be quick to
point out that Arny had a tiff with DCHA over ABX and thereafter Arny
withheld the unction of his...word processor from this august journal,
at least Arny is a has been. You all are never were's.

William Shatner is a lousy actor, an arrogant self-centered oaf, and
one of the most generally foul individuals out there. But a short (in
Shatnerian timescale) time ago he did an album on which he, ahem, sang
the following:

Has been
Has been
You talkin' to me?
You talkin' to me?
You callin' me, has been?
What'd you say your name is?
Jack
Never done jack
Glad to meet ya
Who's your friend?
Dick
Don't say dick
Whaddya know?
And you friend, what's your handle?
Don
Two thumbs Don

Riding on their armchairs
They dream of wealth and fame
Fear is their companion
Nintendo is their game
Never done jack and two thumbs Don
And sidekick don't say dick
We'll laugh at others failures
Though they have not done ****

I've heard of you
The ready-made connecting with the ever-ready
Yeah
The never was talking about still trying
I got it
Forever bitter gossiping about never say die
May I inquire what you've been doing mister?
Jack
Never done Jack
And you partner, what's the News of the World, Dick?
I don't say dick
Don, of all the people you must be the Tattler
Two thumbs up
What are you afraid of?
Failure?
So am I
Has been implies failure
Not so
Has been is history
Has been was
Has been might again

While that's doubtful in the case of Arny, or Shatner, it's beyond
certain not true of Middiot or most of the other ****forpeters posting
on this site. They are neverweres.

I'd say you were on drugs when you wrote this, or at least very drunk.

did you notice some improvement over his usual garbage?

I can't afford to do drugs. I have a real job, not something like
working for Tone Publications.
