Hi all;

I am looking for a device that would play pre-recorded sound clips
(not a PC) based on electrical input triggers (like 12 or 24volt, or
even 120 volt).

Anyone know of such an animal?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Use an old cassette player. They usually had a facility that let you
start and stop them from a switch on the mic. That can be your
electrical trigger input.

Likely lots of potential solutions but not nearly enough info to
recommend anything specific.

Perhaps if you revealed what you are trying to do we would
have a better sense of what you need.

If you want the sound clips to be played in order, then either a cassette
machine as already mentioned, or a NAB cart machine as used by just about
every radio station before computers. These can be pickup up for pennies.

If you want to be able to play clips in any order, then you can use one of
the Announcement machines made for things like safety messages in buildings
or on aircraft. Something like http://www.heads-up.com/prod_brief_600.html
but possibly too expensive. Try also contacting a local PA specialist that
puts PA systems into buildings.
