That story about Sarah Palin not knowing Africa was a continent? Big laugh,
right? Turns out it was a hoax, and Palin never made that mistake.

So why did Palin admit she did make the Africa mistake? When she was
interviewed, she was peevish and defensive, and assailed a "coward who
revealed something I said during a prep session".
No wonder the Scotties of the electorate voted for her. She's one of them.
