I have an old MGB British sports car with 4 inch speakers in the doors (10
year old Panasonics, don't remember the model number). With the top down on
the highway, I have to turn the volume up quite loud in order to over come
the wind noise. The little speakers can't handle the bass at that volume
level. I have somewhat gotten around this problem with bass blocker
capacitors in series with the speakers. Are there any 4 inch speakers on the
market that can handle loud bass without distortion?

BTW, speaker placement is pretty much limited to the 4 inch door cut-outs.
There is not enough room to fit a cup holder, let alone a woofer.

There are no small speakers in that range that will produce high
efficiency and bass. You need to get a bass section or subwoofer and amplifier
crossed over at about 200 Hz. You can drive the 4 inch with a lot of
power then, and you need space for everything. If you can't do this,
headphones is the answer.
