If your audio is on another drive the speed of the system drive should not be a
factor.

I run Nuendo from my laptop's drive and the audio from my 7200 maxtor.

When you load a program, it essentially becomes part of the system.
No point in trying to separate the two. They both load into memory
and stay there anyway.
