Sure... but there are no rules I know of about which is better where...
only what appeals to your sense of aesthetic.

You forgot to add the Chandler "LTD"... another in the ever increasing
line of 'N-word esque' products.

Bro, it's impossible for someone who has never heard you stuff, has no
idea about your goals nor the arrangements of your music to give you
anything resembling an intelligent answer on what would or would not be
appropriate for your applications.

At least on the Vintech I played with, albeit a year or so ago... I
thought the EQ was miles better than the mic pre... but not quite worth
the price of admission.

They're awesome... different, but awesome none the less... another case
where I [personal opinion which may or may not be even remotely relevant
to your reality] thought the EQ was a measure cooler than the pre-amp...
but it really is all a matter of personal taste.

Wrote a response, but I don't think it went through, so...they all
make great gear and you are not going to have a redudant situation if
you own one or more of these units as you mentioned. The best thing
to do is narrow it down to what you really need. Are you reaching for
EQ because of a lack of the right kinds of microphones? If that's the
case maybe you should split the difference and concentrate on a better
high quality utility mic and one preamp.

Or is the mic(s) completely taken care of and an EQ is needed to take
it to the next level once the higher quality preamp is in place? One
preamp/EQ and one preamp is going to yield a world of variety and
possibilities. And in that case, I would buy a one channel preamp
that is most different than the preamp/EQ model. For instance a 1NV
and a Daking are quite different, and a DRS-1 and a Vintech X73 are
very different. Or perhaps the most important thing for you right now
is stereo or dual mono recording. Are you recording drums
(overheads), or bass guitar with DI and mic?

Once you narrow those choices down, I think it may be a little easier
deciding on what you need from a critical perspective and will
alleviate much of the confusion.

Take care, and best of luck with your search.

I've only used the Great River and acutal 1073's. Yesterday I chose the
Great River for kick and snare over the (incredibly mint condition)
1073's. Vocals went through a 1073 however.

I think the X73 is the same price as a pair of NVs. I might choose the
pair over the single with EQ if I was recording bands with drums and
overdubbing vocals.

Nope. The gator farm we built is doing very nicely... we should have the line
of boots on the market sometime in 2006... but the best part is that we've never
had claim on "workman's comp" or "unemployment".

Worked out far better than expected!! Thanks again Rick for all of your help
and assistance with that!! If you're running your audio thing with half the
foresight that went into that purchase... I'm sure you have them lined up around
the block!!!!!!!!!

What can I say. I needed the cash for the bridge that I turned around
to Harvey at a nice profit.
