View Full Version : Eventide 2016 or Kurzweil KSP8

Hi,
I want to buy a reverb unit dedicated to my vocals in my studio. The music
style is hard modern rock, aggressive vocals (actual singing) and heavy
guitars.
The two units I have my eye on are the Eventide 2016 (the new reissue) and
the Kurzweil KSP8. The Kurzweil will give me a big bang for the buck and
people seem to love its reverb. I listened to the online demos and the very
few samples I heard sounded good, but I am looking for something a little
more dense / thick (Maybe the Kurzweil has this with parameter tweaking or
other algorithms that are not on the mp3 samples page).
I did some research on the 2016 and there was not much information, other
than a lot of FS and WTB type ads. The few informational postings that had
a reference to the Eventide 2016 were from some reputable guys saying that
they use it (GM for one).
Has anybody used a 2016 and would you recommend it for my main male vocal
reverb?
I will listen to both before I decide.... but... experienced opinions also
will help.
Thanks in advance,
Jon

I have the Kurzweil KSP-8 (I haven't heard the Eventide), and it is
amazing. I am actually satisfied (for once) in the effects department.
Not to mention the converters are pretty darn good, compression and eq
features that don't suck. I like it a lot.... I'd buy it again. YMMV.
If you try Mercenary Audio, I bet they would let you send it back if
you hate it (but I bet you won't).
Hope that helps,
Joshua
BTW, I've been doing a lot of music lately that fits your description
in style.

Dont forget that you can have either 4 stereo fx or 8 mono or any
combination in between. A great sounding box and an incredible value

They are very dense, as far as I can say, in a Lexy-PCM90 way of being
dense. I don't know the 2016, but Orville reverbs are less dense than
Kurzweil ones, and sort of "more realistic". I find them mutually
complementary.
Best regards,
Paolo
