View Full Version : Cassette Mixer power problem

Someone I know has a:

Fostex 4 track cassette mixer/recorder from around 1996

The power supply recently got broken physically (the casing) and he tried
hooking up the individual two wires to the DC port but something went wrong
(suspected incorrect polarity). Does this sort of thing usually fry the
machine totally or does it usually affect something that is easily fixable?

Sorry I don't have any more details but I can find out more about the power
supply etc. if it is relevant.

Thanks!

There are many stand-alone multi-track recording units on the market now that
will replace an aging cassette unit (with more to offer).
It will most likely be cheaper and easyer to go to one of these digital units
than spending time and cash to repair that old cassete deck. Fostex, Boss,
Tascam and others make some good units for the dollar.
