If my keyboard is equipped with a 16 track sequencer, does this mean that I can
record 16 tracks, mix down and record what I have on to a CD without the need
of a digital recorder? Elliott

Probably not. Is this the same keyboard you've mentioned in your other posts?

Well, the advertisement for my workstation says "from initial idea to CD all on
one unit". I'm confused whether this is just BS or what before I buy it.

I think others have answered this. You'll always need somthing else.

No. It means it has a sequencer.

Is this a keyboard, a workstation, or something else?
What is it equipped with in addition to a 16 track sequencer?
It's possible that your whatever can be used to record 16 tracks, mix down
and burn to a CD if it is equipped with more than a keyboard and a
sequencer.
Does it have a name and a model or maybe even a web site with info?

Now I'm confused. Is the keyboard and the workstation mentioned above one
and the same or are they two different units?
Is it your keyboard/workstation or is it something you might buy if it does
what you want?

A sequencer usually stores MIDI data, so if you're making your CD with
nothing but the internal sounds of the workstation (I assume this is
some sort of keyboard instrument), and if it has a built-in CD
recorder, then yes, it's true.
If you plan to add acoustic instruments or vocals, you'll need to
investigate that capability. Are you embarassed to tell us what unit
you're considering? If you can't read what's behind the description,
perhaps someone else can.

Indeed. Some keyboards have samplers built-in, so one could conceivably
do vox, too.

That's not set up to do vocal production. I would be real tough and memroy
intensive to do vocals and overdubs on that in the traditional sense. If you
were doing phrases and stuff like that it may work.

Depends on what you mean with "record" in this case.
I quickly browsed the information on Korgs site. The thing does have a 5GB
hard disk and can be equipped with a CD burner if I understood it
correctly. It wasn't really clear on what you could do with the disk and
the burner though.
You should be able to record 16 MIDI tracks (MIDI, not audio) and mix them.
I suspect that you can also burn the mix to CD.
You haven't told us wether you're planning on recording audio (vocals,
other instruments...) as well. The thing does have a sampler, but there's
not mention of it beeing capable of recording audio tracks. If you want to
do this, I suspect you'll need something else (a computer or a harddisk
recorder for example).

I didn't see anthing like this on Korg's site, but as I only browsed it
quickly I might've missed it. Did you check there to see what the unit can
do?
That statement can be correct even if you can't record audio tracks. It
does imply that at least you can lay down the sequences, mix them and burn
the output to disk.
