Check out the new RME rack preamps before spending a penny. If it's like
their other products, it will have a great price/performance ratio. Should
be on par with Soundcraft pre's I imagine.

I have a digimax LT i'm using with an RME multiface and i think it's
the greatest thing since sliced bread. 8 good sounding mic pres with
phantom and pad in 1 rack space for $700? sounds like a steal to me.
This thing also has built-in ADCs with a lightpipe output, but i found
the converters in the RME to be better sounding...so I use the analog
direct outs from the digimax into the RME.
as always YMMV.

I own an M80 as well as a Digimax96 and I like them both a lot. I'd
have to say that the M80 has a slightly more colored sound than the
Digimax preamp and I really dig the mixing capability of the M80. Very
handy. I have heard almost every preamp in this price range and I
think either of these are amazing for the money.
