My control room is 12x8x8 and I am not able to use the short wall to face into.
I've got this big console on one end of the room with monitors above it. It
literally sounded like ****. You couldn't tell proper stereo even if you were
in the "Nearfield Triangle." I called up a sound place and they recommended a
lot of absorbtion with diffusion above the listening area, the bigger the
diffusion area, the bigger the sweet spot. So, this I did with about a 7x4
area of cealing with diffusors and much of the walls in foam. You would think
it would sound terrible, but actually, the room is more than usable now. I
wouldn't say it's a great room for mixing but it doesn't get in the way any
more.
