I want to get a list of music player/managers to try out.
First let me list what I have used in the order of how much I liked
them.
winamp
media monkey
helium
itunes
First let me describe my usage very briefly:
(In a word... light)
I don't use any of them very often maybe once a mnth or even 2
mnths. I listen more from my truck than from a computer.
I burn a number of hits I like... maybe 2 or 3 cds (moved from tapes
not so long ago ... maybe 3-4 yrs) and listen to them literally for
yrs without loosing interest in them.
So while not a heavy music manager/player user I am somewhat demanding
of the product I guess.
When I do decide to listen while at a computer:
I want to be able to quickly and easily make a playlist or burn a cd from
a playlist. Preferably with keyboard strokes or something equally quick.
Helium seems particularly clunky and slow in both of those regards.
My only real complaint with Media Monkey is kind of silly I guess but
that retarded looking monkey just began to be something I really
didn't want to see AT ALL. (Yeah I know about changing icons but
sooner or later there that sorry looking thing would be)
ITunes just feels kind of foreign to me.
I may have just talked myself into looking no further than winamp.
Anyone have a suggestion of one they use personally and really like?
Oh, I forgot... I want to be able to edit tags quickly and easily
too. But for me that would not be often.. maybe just to fix it so the
right Author shows up or something from time to time.
Much if not most of my collection is hand named from tapes I've had
since I was a teenager or in my twenties, and I'm 60 now. So I've
botched naming or changed styles from time to time over the years and
every so often I get annoyed enough with one to rename of edit so it
shows up more sensibly on players.
