Hey. Any comments between then Electro Voice RE-20 mic vs the Electro Voice
CS-15? I've heard the CS-15, which is OOP, is superior to the RE-20.
Thanks,

These two are about as different as you can get.
The only similarity is probably the wide pattern on each.
The CS15 is not anywhere near as popular as the industry standard
RE20.
The CS15 is an electret condensor "single-D" design, of course the
RE20
(and it's older twin PL20) are "continuously variable D" dynamics,
meaning
that the CS15 will exhibit the usual proximity effect where the RE20
will not.
The CS15 has a fair amopunt of high-mid presence boost.
It can operate from a 48V phantom supply.
It has a small pop filter, probably not as effective as that on the
RE20.
Wht is your intended use ?

I never liked any of the EV condensers, even the CS-2000 thing.
I found all of them very harsh-sounding.

Nobody particularly liked that CS-2000 or the CS-1000 but there's sort
of a CS-15 cult. I think Dick Rosmini may have started it. I think
Rick Ruskin has a couple of them and loves them.

Agreed.

The RE20 predated the PL20 by almost a decade.

About 4 dB

Or less. The spec is 8 to 48VDC.

The removable, optional 315 blast filter was included.

The EV "System C" family with interchangeable heads was EV's initial
venture into the world of condenser mics. Co-founder Lou Burroughs told
the marketing folks who insisted on the product line that the first
condensers should be "at least as good as their best dynamics". System C
included the omni CO15, cardioid CS15, hypercardioid CH15 and the
line/gradient CL42. A short body electronics module made the CH15S an
ideal option to the much longer Sennheiser MKH416.
