Hi ALl.
I am sure someone here has conquered this scenario...

I recently purchased a tascam dm3200 with 2 add on adat cards.

I also have an alesis hd24 and a tc elec konnekt8.
I would like to use the dm3200 as clock master, and I have connected the
wordclock out from dm3200 to adathd24 as well as the lightpipes. Adat
seems to be fine getting ext clock. Audio playback is fine.

The konnekt8 also seems to be fine locking onto external 48k via spdif.
Connected to dm3200 digital io spdif.
Now my question- When working in the PC (mastering etc) I don't want to
be limited to only working on 48k files.
When I edit tracks from hd24 they are 24b 48k files, but obviously CD's
and stereo mastering tracks are usually 44.1/16b. When I playback
44.1/16 files, I lose clock sync from the dm3200 (sample rate mismatch).
Is there a way around this? TC Elec say to only work in 48k if that is
the master clock rate, but how do you work on 44.1k files?

I think making dm3200 clock master is the best choice as that is the
centerpiece of the studio and is probably most stable.
This was never an issue when I had analogie mixer, because every device
was its own clock (internal source.)

On a side note- does anyone also know any way to sync (timecode) a daw
app like cubase or vegas to the hd24 via the dm3200 and has anyone
actually got a dm3200/4800 to control the hd24 via mmc? I only can get
it to play and stop.

Sorry for all the requests, but I am sure someone here has figured out
the best way to do this.

You need to press some buttons. Either switch your PC to use internal
word clock or change the DM3200 (as your master clock) to the correct
sample rate for your "other" files. It's not complicated, but you
gotta do it.

So basically, reset to the 44.1k rate? Pain in the butt... :-)
Funny thing is windows media player will play cd's fine out via the
konnekt spdif when it is clocked at 48k. The cd's of course must be
44.1k,(commercial cds-red book) but if I play a 44.1k file in soundforge
I lose clock sync, thus no audio. All files played in 48k 16 or 24 bit
in SF work fine (clock syncs up )

Thks for the info
