Anyone got any good ideas where to find, besides the obvious Neumann
USA? A generic replacement would suffice.

My favorite for "XLR-size" microphones is the
Electrovoice 311

Be aware that the KM180 series are a little larger than 3/4" and will
stress - possibly break - EV (or other) "xlr-sized" clips.
You might take the mic and go to your local pro-audio/music store/rental house with
a parts rack and see what might fit best.
I build my own shock mounts from 2" ABS pipe with large sections cut away, leaving
end-rings on which I string crossed O-rings, then attach a mounting barrel made from
wood doweling that fits into a regular mic clip. Works well and provides a fast set
up and tear down (mount and mic pops out of the clip).
Good luck with it.

The Shure rubber doughnut mount for the SM-81 works nicely, and is a really
stunningly effective shock mount.

I use the ElectroVoice 311 clips In many applications especially after
I discovered that the original clip for the Neumann 184 was $75.
They fit Neumann 84's 184's Schoeps 641's and AKG 414's. they are a
little loose on AKG 480's, but a little gaff tape will fix that if
necessary.
The cost of many other clips and the almost universal fit of this clip
make it the most used accessory that I have in my arsenal of
microphones.
One other clip that I really like is the new clip with the Shure SM81,
but it would be very tight on a 184.
Peavey also has some clips that fit quite well and are not
expensive. They have a rubber compound clip which is virtually
impossible to break..

The Studio Projects C4 shockmounts are a perfect fit for the 184.
There was a faulty batch
of those shockmounts a couple years ago. I had one of the bad ones,
and Studio Projects were great at sending me 2 new ones. Since I now
had one extra functioning C4 shockmount,
I tried my 184 with it and it has lived in that shockmount ever since!
