Hi!

I have Tehnics receiver, but it's a bit old (sa-ax720). Anyway it
doesn't have Dolby digital decoder. So the question is: is there a way
to connect dvd player with comp. sound card and sound with receiver,
having sound card acting as Dolby digital decoder.
BTW, which sound card would you recommend for that job?
THX very much.

There is, but I don't recommend it.

Are you trying to get more than 2 channels working?

Agreed.

The intent of computer sound cards with multichannel outputs is that they
would be used with software Dolby decoders, and be used only to play
recordings that are played on the computer.

IOW, you play a regular DVD on the DVD drive in your computer, and listen
through speakers connected to the computer.

well thanks guys. I was lazy enough not to discover that there are
players with Dolby decoder and without amplifiers, my fault :).Thanks
once more.
