I have Event TR8 Reference monitors. They have a power switch in the back.
I'm wandering if there is a gadget being sold that will allow me to turn
both speakers off or on without having to reach behind them every time I
need to?
Thanks

How about a power bar with a switch?

My heavens. You've never heard about X-10? It's been around 30 years!
X-10 isn't the only remote-power system, but it seems to be the most common.

Ignore the porno-style advertising. The stuff is cheap and it works.

Plug them into a power strip. Turn the power strip on and off.
If you want to get swanky, you can buy power strips that rackmount, or
have remote control relays.

Cheap: switchable power strip
Fancy: Middle Atlantic RLM-15-1C (~$90) Standalone relay operated
power strip. You can put the switch anywhere you like.

I just made a little box with a switch that mutes the audio going
to the speakers. No wear-n-tear cycling the power on and off,
power up thumps, etc. etc.

Or if you hurry, this month they are selling those "christmas tree extention
cords" with the remote switch for something around 1/10 that price. :-)
