Hi there,

My name is Beau, I have recently graduated from University with a degree
in Music.

I love to mix, and my goal in life is to end up in a top studio either
over here in England or across the pond.

Well, to get there, I've devised a plan. Now is the time to get as much
mixing credentials under my belt as possible.

So, I am offering my services, for a limited time of around 4 months, to
mix your project for free.

Let me state that I am no amateur to the mixing world. I has been my
passion for the last four years and I am now at a level where I feel I
can achieve extremely professional results, and use top notch
professional gear.

Ideally I'd like to work on projects that have been well recorded. Not
really interested in the kinda 'recorded in dad's garage with $30 worth
of equipment' type of projects. Please understand that I hope that these
mixes will aid me in finding employment through a top notch portfolio,
and projects that are beyond rescuing will be a waste of mine and your time.

I will be away from my studio between Dec 14th and January 1st, but will
be keen to start mixing projects from Jan 1st onwards. Remember you have
nothing to loose but we both have much to gain!

If you're interested, please don't hesitate to email me;

beauchampy (at) gmail (dot) com

Thanks for time out to read this.

Love and Prosperity

Beau

You didn't feel you were ready to use top notch gear before? If you only
recently feel ready, then you ARE an amateur.

This is like a no-name musician saying "I'm willing to do concerts for
free... but I'm only really interested in performing at high-end venues like
the Sydney Opera House. BUT IT'LL BE FOR FREE!" You have to already have the
experience to get people to take a chance on you. To get the experience, you
have to have the experience, which requires the exprience, etc.Gotta work
your way up the ladder like everyone else, sorry.

Also keep in mind that lots of very knowledgeable people volunteer their
time in big name studios. They're lucky to touch a mic cable, let alone a
mixing desk. Usually it's the coffee pot and cookie doh.

I'll tell ya what I'll do Beau,
I'm a nobody. I have only a small list of alocades, one of two winners of
the 2007 North dakota Music Fellowship awards and a few contests from back
when I was down in Dixie.
I've already recorded and put onto the market my debut album "Scuffletown
Blues" and sales are going as well as can be expected, considering I only
sell them through an online web page and during gigs (which are few and far
between for reason I wont get into here).
There was a write up about me on American Profile which was only about 75%
correct and not very flattering, but it does show some of the hurdles I had
to jump through to get as far as I have.
The title track for my album was recorded on a Fostex MR-8 and worked over
with Adobe Auditon 1.5. Both the Fostex files and the Adobe *.pk files total
to 40 meg in size.
Now these guys in this NG are pros. Some are the best of the best I would
suppose and quite a few are probably just posers like me. I'm not about to
bite the hand that feeds my intellect by being judgmental. If they don't
want to give you a shot, I can respect that. Lots of folks come into
newsgroups with one angle or annother while others lurk for years as they
amass knowledge. I have nothing to lose by offering my work for you to
pratice with and lots to gain.
I haven't built up respect in the music community and none of my work has
reached any of the radio stations or charts yet so I have only an upward
direction to pursue.
You can listen to the finished project at
http://web.nccray.net/jshodges/mommasaid/sss.htm if you are in need of a
good laugh but please keep your critisizm at home. After thinking about it,
should you decide that you'd like to work on a song that has a vocal track
and a guitar track get back to me and we'll see about transferring the files
over to you.
At best I'll end up with a better copy of my song. I don't see any way I
could be hurt by letting you play around with my files. The music is
protected under copyrite and I'm not worried about losing face. lol I'm
already the lil ugly guppy in this lake. :-)

No, I just didn't have the access to the gear. I do now and I am
competent with using it.

Well, I can see where your coming from with that one. Still it's not
like they exclusively have to use me to mix their project. My idea was
that they can try me out and they don't have to use my mixes if they
don't want to. I don't want to waste anyone's time or money.

Yes, you're right. We all have to start somewhere and while I don't
reside near any big name studios, this is my bat at trying to climb the
ladder. I don't know anything about you in particular, but I bet you
weren't born on the studio A desk in air studios, so stop ****ing on my
bonfire!

Sorry Beau... but your "bonfire" is in someone else's public sandbox.

My interpretation is that he means since they won't be paying him
anything, they won't be out any cash. However, if they think his work
is lacking, there's no avoiding their having wasted time.

But is there only one proscribed way in the recording world to get to
the point where one can afford extra cheese on their burger? Kelly
Clarkson didn't take the "typical" path to stardom but she's there.

Until you've heard something he's done, isn't it premature to assert
he's an "amateur"? Citing facts not in evidence and all.

I agree, hey if people don't want to send their stuff to him, they are
certainly free to not do it.

Hey Beau, dont let these frustrated curmudgeons rain on your
parade. Around here in Atlanta, there are lots of kids going
to SAEI (recording school) who post cards on the bulletin
board at the Atlanta Institute of Music (learn to play guitar
drums and bass school) looking for bands to record for their
school projects. We talked to one and he had no studio and no
musical equipment. Seemed like to big a hassle for a band that
rehearses in a fully functional one switch and we are ready to
roll studio.

On the other hand I regularly record 24 tracks during band
practice into a Nuendo project. We go into the control room
and push play then laugh at ourselves. I usually just delete
this when practice is done unless there is something there to
help me learn a song better on bass or a new song we never
recorded before. Somehow those first tries have a magic that
gets lost as we perfect the song.

I wish someone close could take the hard drive after practice,
mix the practice down to a CD or two and send it back so we
can get it to our fans who love this raw stuff. I would work
with them on that. I delete the multitrack practice cause I do
not have time to mix it down or space to store some 40-50 gig
of us running through the same songs . I would love to have it
come back the next day as a CD and not deal with the mixing
etc. Or even a long ass MP3.

Personally I can not listen to and *hear* the our playing from
our practices until it is mixdown on a CD and there is nothing
else I can do to it but turn it up or down.

Keep looking and I am sure that someone close to you will find
you and you will be up to your ears in stuff to mix down.

peace
