Default 91 ford explorer stereo problem

i took out old factory radio, went to wire up cd player and speakers
won't work now ,power and memory work fine. just no sound i noticed
something differant than i'm used to seeing a bare wire in with speaker
wires is this something to do with why i can't get the speakers to work
i would be very thankful on any information i could get hold of.....

Your Explorer has a factory amplifier. You need to bypass it or turn it on
to make the speakers work.
