Tivo changes your life, it is excellent. It means the few good things
that are on you can watch when you want and at your own pace.

Only advice I can think of is be aware Tivo has a fan in it that is
noisey so you may not want to set it up in a bedroom.

Make sure they run **2** lines from the Tivo to your satellite dish. The Tivo
has dual tuners in it, but they only work if they run two physical cables to
the dish. I'd also ask specifically for a phase-III dish with triple LNB.
Sooner or later, you'll probably want HD and it is possible that your locals
may be on one of the other satellites anyway.

We've got a direct tivo and a HDTivo. Love them both. I almost never watch live
tv anymore. The Tivo is always on, gets the stuff I want to see so I can watch
it when I want to.

Movies in HD are actually better than DVD playback - so the HD-Tivo has
supplanted a lot of the DVD watching we used to do. HBO an Showtime both have
HD channels, as well as HDNet. The HD Tivo also does local off-the-air HD.

The best reason of all: ****ing off arrogant pseudo-intellectuals.
