Default Ranger speaker overload!

Hello there,
I recently installed new Pioneer 6x8 220 watt speakers in the front and back
of my 97 Ranger XLT SuperCap truck, and also stuck in an old Sony 35x4 watt
receiver. It was a nice upgrade from the stock junk, but I kept experiencing
a problem with the receiver's output shutting off for no reason. The unit
would stay on, but no sound was reproduced from the speakers, except for a
clicking sound in one of the speakers. After putting up with it for a while,
I figured a new receiver would solve the problem, so I picked up a Pioneer
DEH-6600 ( 50x4 watts) and the problem still occurs! Obviously there is some
sort of overload protection in the wiring to the speakers, and it needs to
be disabled as soon as possible! Does anyone know how to get around this
without having to re-wire all the speakers?
For some reason, the speakers tend to shut off mainly when i listen to this
good ol' song by Fear Factor: "Cars"
Thanks for any advice given!
Daniel Roberts.
