Battery And Assault - iPod's Unreplaceable Battery LastsOnly 18 Months
"Guenter Scholz" wrote in message ... well, to be specific, a 20 gig player with about 5 meg per song gives about 400 songs. Huh??? Isn't 20GB / 5MB = 4,000 songs? And if only 3MB per song, then 6,667 songs? Not to defend Ipod and their BOGUS battery. Regards, BG |

Alkaline AA cells provide about 1.6 amp-hours. Premium NiMHs
provide 2 amp-hours. I have seen claims of 2.1, even 2.3 lately... NiMH has been advancing in recent years! Evidently so have alkalines. Energizer claims 3.1AH for their AA E2 series and 2.7AH for the standard AA bunnies. There is also the fact that, if the product is designed to work down to 1V per cell, the rechargeable battery doesn't have as far to "drop" to hit that voltage. The disposable has more "headroom." |

Disposable batteries have voltage "drooping" more during the discharge than rechargeable ones do. NiCd and NiMH cells still produce about 1.1v per cell when 85-90% of the way discharged. Alkalines droop worse than that. - Don Klipstein ) |
