Default Kenwood Head unit dosent light up

BlankI've got a Kenwood KDC-X715 H/U that is all digital display that dosent
light up. Has anyone run into this problem? It works just fine, can switch
from tuner to cd player to off with no problem just no readout on the
faceplate.

I've got juice to the power (yellow) ignition(red) and dimmer(orange) wires.
I'm stumped... Hopefully someone has run into this problem and knows a fix.

thanks

The ribbon cable, between the chassis and faceplate, is broken.
