Default Can you use a Mac Mini as a conduit?

If you want to go the Mac Mini way, just connect the Drobo to the Mac
Mini, and the Mini to your DAC.

I can't mount the Drobo on the Mini because I also use it for backups

and for photograph storage and processing.

Is there any way to access the Drobo on the MBP from a Mac Mini? I want
to avoid the expense of buying the Mini unless I know I can do this and
how to go about it.

You may want to put something like an Audiophilleo in between. I'v done this and the improvement in sound
quality is significant.

It is a FireWire device.

Then use Screen Sharing (via the built-in Airport Express) on the MBP to

control the Mini, and through that the Drobo. Done.

Thanks for the suggestion. That should work.

[ At this point, I think we are drifting away from audio
quality methods and towards computer configuration, so
let's take anything offtopic to private email -- dsr ]
