TOyota help again please
Hi all,
A couple of weks ago I asked about identifying wires to install a radio in a 1990 Toyota Corolla. There were numerous suggestions to go buy a Scosche adapter kit and use that which I did. It didn't work ... :-( I think the issue is that the SCosche 4-wire plug fits the smaller of my two plugs perfectly ... but my plug is a 5 wire!!! The Scosche 4 wire plug is all speaker wires .. I *think* my 5-wire is the power plug ... sigh ANy ideas will be appreciated ... Thanks Mike |

You should be able to look under the dash on the drivers side and see what
color of wire is going to those lovely 31/2" factory speakers. On the passenger side, pop out the glove compartment, and view the other speaker colors. This narrows it down to the ACC power (ground can be any bare metal) which you will be able to find out with the keys in ACC and a working multimeter set to DC. "Skipper" wrote in message ... That 5th wire on the small plug is not needed for aftermarket radio install.
The power and ground wires are on the larger plug. What is the problem? no power? Power but no sound? is the unit your installing new or known working? "Skipper" wrote in message ... The unit I am installin is brand new. and it is not turning on when plugged in. In some of my earlier poking around I think I founf that the red & yellow were power & ACC power ... but they are both on the smaller plug .... ttrust me ... I could definately be wrong here ... just ask my wife!! The red on the smaller plug is the right rear speaker + and the yellow is
the left rear speaker - the power wire's are on the larger plug there should be a grey wire which is the ACC power, A blue/yellow is the constant power. and a Brown is the ground. Try this web site http://streetdreams.com/wires/ . it has a lot of car side wire color codes good luck "Skipper" wrote in message ...
