Default Total Recorder: recording in mono only with automatic timed recorder feature

I have the automatic timer feature in High Criteria Software's Total
Recorder set to record streaming audio, and in the "Recording source
and parameters" dialog box, i have it set to Recording
source=software/convert using recording parameters/record also input
stream. On some of the machines i have the software set on, it records
in stereo instead of mono (these are talk radio shows, not music
shows), and recording in stereo produces a huge file size, which is
hard to edit after its done.
IN the "Recording source and parameters" dialog box if i select "Sound
Board" instead of "Recording source" , and I manually click "mono mix"
vs. "stereo mix" , it will record in mono, but i cannot set this up
with the timed automatic timer feature.
Is there something with different sound cards that allow/disallow mono
recordings automatically?
Thanks
Chum
