infrared wireless mics
Hi All
I have a conference room that will need up to four floor mics for audience participation. They are exploring all options and the question of using wireless mics came up. Unfortunately there are concerns security using UHF/VHF mics. I mentioned that there are infrared systems...Nady, being a household name makes a system but I have no idea of the quality of hardware or the audio for that matter. If anyone can shed some light on this topic it would be greatly appreciated Thanks Don |

The NADY system sort of works if you are in a dark room and have clear line of sight and stand perfectly still without moving. If anyone can shed some light on this topic it would be greatly appreciated How about using the Zaxcom digital wireless with encryption? I don't recall how long the key is; it's certainly not going to keep the NSA from listening but it will keep joe-scanner-user out. But it also has phenomenal range and extremely good reliability. A lot more expensive than using mikes on long cables, though. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

Well the mics will be on stands at defined points in the room so that may not be an issue but I hear what you're saying. I will definitely look into this setup. A lot more expensive than using mikes on long cables, though. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." Hardwiring the system has not been dismissed as of yet...definitely the simplest of solutions but as I said I'm just exploring possibilities Thanks Don |

The reason people want wireless mikes is so that they can be handed around. If you're going to make people get up and go into the aisle anyway, go with a wired mike. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. I wouldn't use a Nady anything. Especially in a professional
application. You are right though, RF mics will get outside some buildings. If you must have security and boardrooms can be one of those situations, I suggest looking at Telex's S.A.F.E. systems. www.telex.com David www.proaudiosuperstore.com (Eric Toline) wrote in message ... infrared wireless mics Group: rec.audio.pro Date: Fri, Jul 9, 2004, 11:53am (EDT+4) From: (Don Nafe) Hi All I have a conference room that will need up to four floor mics for audience participation. Best bet is to hard wire the mics, tape down the cables and be done with it. Eric |

.cable.rogers.com... If anyone can shed some light on this topic it would be greatly appreciated If you "shed some light on it" you probably will have problems. I have a wireless headset that won't work in a room with a picture window on a really sunny day. I would never use infrared for anything if I could help it. |
