Default Compustar 2wss-as in Canada

I am looking to get a starter/alarm combo for my car. I was
looking online and noticed that Compustar offers a Spread Spectrum
version of their 2-way starter/alarm. This is supposed to give a
much longer range. Looking around trying to find some information I
found 2 places online where someone said that the Spread Spectrum
starters do not work as well in Canada and may actually get less
range than the FM transmitters (something about the frequencies
being regulated). I don't understand how this would make a
difference if the device is the same, how would regulated
frequencies make it work less?

So, I am asking in here if anyone knows for sure one way or another
if that is really the case. I wouldn't want to go out and spend the
extra money to get something that doesn't work as well.

Also, I noticed with the Spread Spectrum one that I can get one 2-
way remote and a backup 1-way. Does this mean I cannot get two 2-
way remotes? Is this is the same as the FM. I would really like to
get two 2-way remotes but I don't know if this is possible.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Default Compustar 2wss-as in Canada

I'm in Nova Scotia, and have the 2WFM-AS in my own car. The 5000ft range is
not a misprint on the FM model, it's amazing range. Although I do not have
near the distance as I get inside large metal buildings, although it seems
to work fine at the local mall and theatre, the only places I really care
anyway. The SS model is sold here as well, and suppose to get another
thousand feet, and it should I would imagine. It also should get through
interference easier, being spread spectrum. The licensing may be different
in Canada, but CompuStar would have to meet Canadian CRTC laws before
selling in Canada anyway. So I would doubt it'd have any less range, and if
it has, I haven't heard about it.

Anyway, IMHO, the 2WFM-AS is an awesome unit, and I'd recommended it to
anyone. Only two reasons I didn't go to the SS model, additional cost, and
physical remote size. The 2WFM has a nice belt clip carrying case, and is
much smaller.

As per the remote thing, I know you can buy additional 2-way remotes (mine
can be programmed up to 3 transmitters), but those suckers are expensive.
Probably around $150 or so a piece for the 2-way SS, as the FM are around
$120.

Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, send me an email and
I'd be happy to assist!
