Default FA: DYNACO FM-3 STEREO TUNER

DYNACO FM-3 STEREO TUNER

I am the original owner of this Dynaco tuner and having built it from a
kit in 1965; I'm unwillingly letting it go. This tuner is in beautiful
condition as the photos show and has had the recommended Frank
VanAlstine maintainence and upgrades as well as some of the Glass Audio
improvements. I have aligned the tuner and checked all voltages and
tubes; it meets all the original Dynaco specifications. It has Gold RCA
output jacks, Wima coupling caps, resistors matched to 1% in the
Multiplex Integrator, NOS GE "5 star" 6136 tubes (known to be some of
the quietest and most durable) in the 6AU6 positions, 120uf of
additional capacitance added to each of the final three sections of the
filter cap and lastly but most important...new custom built PEC
modules. The tuner is spotless, absolutely quiet and it sounds
incredible. It performs flawlessly in my system.

I will pack with the care this tuner deserves. Please feel free to ask
any questions.

Thank you.

Ownership of this tuner should presuppose owning a quality RF generator
such as an HP 8640 or 8657 plus a stereo generator. Good stereo
multiplex generators are scarce today. The ST 1000 integrated unit is
not built to HP standards and is overpriced but will work.

Bret:

This is a self-aligning unit, and about a 20-minute job assuming good
tubes and a unit already warmed up. Just so you don't whine about how
much better instruments might be, I have done the self-alignment drill,
then used instruments. No change. If this unit suffers it is by way of
no mute and no PLL. Neither is a failing in terms of actual base-line
functionality. And the ability to do an alignment without instruments
far outweighs those small failings.

At least you are not the absolutist that Phil & Andre might be. But
please think a second or two before you opine in ignorance.
