Echo Gina 24 s/pdif faulty clocking
I purchased a brand new $320. Echo Gina24 35 days ago (I took too long
trying to configure it now it's too late to return.) For playback it works beautiful, and for analog recording via rca, too. Biggest bummer is recording from my DAT deck to Soundforge and Adobe Audition via the coaxial and S/PDIF/WDM settings on the Echo drivers. The Echo s/pdif is clocking about 1 second to about every 15 seconds slower than the the DAT. It sound ok while I'm monitoring it but the recording is definitely longer than the source. The 'pure wave' settings on the Echo drivers do not work whatsoever in either Soundforge or Audition and there is no spdif/external recording capability with the Adobe Audition in either 'pure wave' or WDM mode at all. I've tried every possible setting combination twice or three times, changed the pci slot twice to make sure there was no device conflicts, and the Echo tech person was absolutely no help whatsoever - he basically told me that the 'pure wave' settings won't work with my software and Win XP??! - despite what's written in the manual. The real kicker is that I installed an old M-audio Dio2448 that a friend let me borrow on the same PC (it even came with signed drivers) XP found it, installed it and it works perfectly in the same configuration as the Gina with the same software. What's the deal with Echo and their drivers?? Anyway, if these symptoms look familiar to anyone and they can offer a suggestion I'd be grateful. Bill Roseberry |
