Default Sirius vs. XM

I'm new to this NG, so I apologize if this has been discussed to death
already, but I'm leaning towards Sirius over XM...any thoughts? First-hand
experiences?

Thanks!

they are both great! (I have both in my Tahoe)

Check for the channels you like and let that be the basis
of your choice...

I have Sirius and love it. The extra dime a day over XM for commercial

free music seems like a decent deal. Also, I can listen to the Sirius music
streams online at work for no additional fee. I think there is something
extra involved to do that with XM. Either way, once you have satellite
radio, I think you will wonder how you ever got by without it.

Decide based on content. Sirius tends toward the mainstream while XM
is a little more high-brow.

Dont be fooled!
Sirius COMMERCIAL FREE is kind of a lie.

1st, there are alot of Sirius channels that DO have commercials
2nd, the popular XM channels are just as commercial free as Sirius
so my advice is to ignore the "commercial Free" lies and choose
which one is for you by comparing the content that you like to listen
to.

I dont really car about the sirius SPANISH CHANNELS and they count
them as some of the commercial free channels... On the other hand I like

the old time radio show channel and the commercials there SUCK on Sirius

but arent too bad on the XM old time radio show channel....

I have both in my truck, but the differences between them have nothing
to do with Sirius's bogus commercial free claim... (IMO)

They advertise their music streams as commercial free. Ofcourse there are commercials on the sports/talk streams since they are not produced by Sirius(they are espn, cnn, foxnews, etc). Also, If Sirius carries a show(grand ole opry on saturday nights maybe, then I would expect commercials when the grand ole opry goes to commercial). Any music stream I listen to has no commercials and limited talk from the djs. I do agree that a person should go with the content that is best suited for them though.

The music stations *I listen to* on Sirius are commercial free
The music stations *I listen to* on XM are commercial free as well.
(I have both in my car)

Sirius has 40 commercial free stations out of 100
XM has 35 ot of 100
(I think those counts are right)

Since I dont listen to all of the 40 or all of the 35, the fact that one

brags about being commercial free and the other doesnt is pretty
darned irrelevant!

And I agree with you Perry... The decision should be made on
CONTENT that you like! They are NOT the same...

But my point is the COMMERCIAL free is pretty much NOT
a reason to buy one over the other, there are bigger pros and cons
than the commercial free lie...

One has NPR the other doesnt
one has NASCAR the other doesnt
one has NBA the other doesnt
one has Playboy the other doesnt
One has a few more commercial free music channels, but the other one has
more total music channels!
One is cheaper than the other
One has more live (in studio) events
One has more comedy channels

And probably the most important thing is the music is NOT the
same on both of them.... I am quite sure i like differnt music
than the average guy on this newsgroup and since thats (IMO)
the most important reason to buyone over the other I am telling
you guys to stop listining to the 'commercial free' propaganda
and go listen to BOTH for yourselves before you decide!!
