Default 88 keys masterkeyboard suitable for attaching an lcd screen /mousepad?

Hi,

I would like to set up my gear with only a pc with cubase and plugins,
a 88 keys weighted masterkeyboard and a good usb audio interface. In
other words, I want to set up an oasys-like work environment.

I can't seem to find a masterkeyboard which is designed to also offer
enough space to attach / place an lcd flatscreen and a mousepad. There
are workstations with the pc right build in but they don't come with a
good keyboard, are expensive and probably not easily upgradable.

The only masterkeyboards that would suit my needs halfway are the
yamaha kx-8 and maybe a fatar model. Is there someting more suitable
or are my requirements too exotic?

TIA for any hint,

Regards

If that's what you want, you need to look at separate pieces and do your
own system engineering to put the pieces together. Find a keyboard that
has the feel and controls that you like. It will have a MIDI output (and
probably input as well, for setup). Add a USB interface that includes a
MIDI port or two and as many audio channels as you want. This could be
as simple as an M-Audio Fast Track Pro. Find a keyboard "workstation"
stand that has a shelf for a monitor. You can probably find a place for
the mouse somewhere.

Open Labs introduced the concept of a standard PC built into a case with
a display, QWERTY keyboard, trackball or mouse, and black-and-white
keyboard, but most of their products are designed for portability so I
don't think they make one with an 88-key keyboard. They're more open
(for upgrading) than a purpose-built workstation like the Korg Oaysis,
but they're pretty expensive.

Fatar SL880 has the room. I wouldn't trust it without some kind of backstop.

Thanks, Bob. I will have a look at the sl880 (or the 990 which I think
is the successor?).

Thanks, Mike. I saw the Open Labs units and I like to concept, but I
don't need portability but rather a good keyboard. Also, I think PC-
hardware ages faster than the rest of the gear. A workstation stand is
a good idea, it would also be nice to have some additional space for
other equipment. I just have to find a decent one.
