Default Another sound card to receiver digital question

I have a M-Audio revolution 7.1 sound card and a Marantz SR6200 receiver.
The card has a digital coaxial output and the receiver has 2 digital coaxial
inputs - should be sweet. But I can't get any digital signal. There is no
problem connecting the card's stereo output (stereo mini-jack to 2x RCA) to
another input on the receiver (e.g. AUX) - works fine. But I want to use
this output for something else.
With this receiver you have to select digital audio (and which channel - 2
coaxial and 2 optical) for whatever mode is playing. There is also a
digital/analog switch to switch between the two. I believe I have this
pretty much sussed out at the receiver end. Does anybody else have any
advice?
Should it matter if the cable is not a dedicated 75 Ohm coaxial cable
(quality issues aside)? I am using a fairly good quality video cable RCA to
RCA.

Thanks for any help
david

That cable should work unless it's defective.

Have you checked to see if there's any software/OS settings to enable
the digital audio out on the sound card?

In order to use the digital out of most soundcards you need to have the card
specific software installed and set up correctly. Also, make sure that you
have the updated version of the soundcard software.
