an alternative viewpoint on "Jupiter Audio"
We all know that Trotsky disappeared from RAO after he was fired from
his salesdrudge job at Simply Stereo. The embarrassment was simply too much for him to bear. :-( We can also conclude that he was unable to secure a similar "position" with another area audio/video retailer, probably because his reputation is absolute **** in Chicagoland (would you want an unstable, egomaniacical whack job on your salesfloor??). So...might "Jupiter Audio" be not so much a serious attempt at a commercial enterprise as a way for Trots to get "back in the game" as a "serious audio guy" and be able to post on RAO again? Why else would he even consider submitting his little speaker company and his website for approval on RAO? He had to know he was going to get absolutely pounded. If he really wanted to sell speakers, he would have avoided the Usenet audio groups in general, and RAO in particular, at all costs. How about it, Trots? PS- when do you go off the dole? |

Trotsky already know that sure, this is why he is so jealous. They also have a private forum where people can have interesting exchanges about a *real* speaker and not a paranoid's *phantasm*. If I was Greg, I'd buy a kit and examine it to reverse-engineer a simmilar design, but maybe with a ribbon tweeter(since he likes that type of design). He'll model a cabinet for you for free. http://www.ellisaudio.com/CrossoverComponents.htm I bet he would point you in the direction of how to make a better crossover as well. He's a nice guy and would love nothing more than to increase the number of small firms in audio. Competition from you is meaningless to him in any case, as he knows that he's never going to be a large firm. Plenty of customers for both of you. I bet you could ship him a pair of the speakers and he'd analyze it and give you recommendations and fixes for little or no cost that would double your sound quality. What do you have to loose, Greg? You rant on and on about him sucking, but one fact remains - he is running a buiness and has several years experience at it. There's nothing wrong with asking someone who is a success how they did it. You'd be surprized in fact at how often they tell you all about how they make it work/accomplished it. If I was Greg, I'd buy a kit and examine it to reverse-engineer a simmilar design, but maybe with a ribbon tweeter(since he likes that type of design). At the least, I'd buy my crossover from him and change the caps to match - it's a solid design that would probably be a better starting point than Madisound's verson. http://www.ellisaudio.com/free.htm How can you beat that, Greg? (actually, getting them to shut up about it is the hardest part - lol) Just out of curiousity, do you believe that speakers have to break in? |

I know you're in the middle of a flame-war here, Greg, but take this one piece of advice to heart - pay for a good designer to go voer and tune-up your design. You only have to do this once per speaker design. Joe, don't you think you should go to those groups where your trolling is more welcome? |

Absolutely. www.ellisaudio.com That's only two "L"s. If you're going to be too stupid to see the joke it takes all the fun out of it. Do you feel it reasonable to call you stupid here, Joe? |
